| Estimated Costs For Mission Teams |
Below is a list of estimated expenses for the mission team:
Airline tickets, personal spending money, fun day activity, meals away from the site, and coverage for 2 Abraham Project missionaries participation in activities, meals, and team excursions are not included in this summary but need to be taken into consideration.
$20 includes lodging, breakfast, and dinner per person per night. Each room holds up to four people and has access to its private bathroom. The bed and breakfast that we use has the capacity for 37 people. We would make other arrangements for groups over 37. (prices would vary)
We provide lunches for the team at the work site for $5 per person per lunch. This cost also covers a meal for a Costa Rican worker so that the locals and foreigners are able to fellowship together. .Any lunches away from the site would be in the price range of $5 to $7 per person depending on the type of restaurant you choose to go to.
Transportation costs vary according to whatever ministry activities you choose, how many times you go out in the evening as a group, the distance you go for your fun activities, and the size of your team. A coaster bus for 25 people would cost about $1000 a week. (We encourage you to complete your itinerary, establish your ministry and fun activities, and contact our coordinator as soon as possible so that we can find you comparative rates.)
-
Costa Rica Exit Fee ($26) This is a fee charged to every person at the airport when leaving the country.
-
It is always good to build a contingency fund into your budget for any unforeseen costs or emergencies. (Bottled water if a team requests it, honorary gifts to bus driver, lodging host at bed & breakfast, etc....)
-
Many times the team will go out for a special farewell dinner with the missionaries on the last night. Once again, the team is responsible for all costs.
-
It is important to remember that the team will be responsible for covering the cost for 2 Abraham Project missionaries’ participation during all the team activities. This would include fun day activity, eating out, ministry expenses, etc.
-
Don't forget that everyone needs a valid Passport to travel to Costa Rica.
-
Medical Insurance: We require each team member to purcharse insurance. The insurance that you purchase for the team must cover overseas medical emergencies and evacuation. The plan should include repatriation, which is basically emergency medical transportation back to the states in severe cases - even cases involving death while out of the country. Some teams in the past have used the Missionary Insurance Group, Inc. (see letter below). Please inform the Abraham Project Team Coordinator which insurance company you choose, with details of its coverage, before you come to Costa Rica.
-
Love offering for translators. Many times when a team does ministry they need a local translator to convey the gospel in Spanish. We recommend the team to take up a love offering for the translators since they are volunteering their services.

Thanks for your inquiry about insurance/med evacuation for overseas missionaries. Please visit our web site at www.migi.net. |
| Click on what we offer, the brochures can be down loaded and you can obtain quotes immediately. The Outreach Travel (for Individuals) covers trips of 1-30 days. If there are five or more going, then the cost is $2.00 to $2.45 per day per person depending upon the amount of coverage selected. There is a Patriot Exec for persons residing in USA but take frequent trips of 30 days or less outside USA. Then there is coverage for full time missionaries outside USA. |
